By preparing your own meals you are going to know what you have to eat later. You won’t have to rely on maybe finding a Keto diet friendly option on the go. This will also have the added benefit of saving you money. Do this especially when you are first starting out. Later on, after you have more experience on the keto diet, you can be more confident and wing it occasionally.

Plan Out Your Week
Even if you don’t prep your meals! You will want to have a game plan for the week ahead. Know exactly what you will be eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. This way you won’t run out of ideas or not have the correct ingredients to make your meals. Always be prepared! (Even if you’re not a scout) It’s never fun to have to run to the store just for one thing. Planning will help you stay organized and give you a much better chance of success while on the Keto Diet.

Fat bombs are going to save your butt. They are basically high-in-fat treats. Usually sweetened with stevia, they will satiate any sweet cravings you will have and help you hit your macros. Try this simple recipe for starters:
1/4 Cup Almond Butter
1/4 Cup Unrefined Coconut Oil
2 Tbsp Cacao Powder
1/4 Cup Erythritol (Powdered)
1. Mix the oil and almond butter together
2. Microwave for 30s
3. Mix in the cacao powder and erythritol
4. Pour in to these silicone backing cups. and refrigerate.
If you don’t already use spices in your cooking, you are going to want to start. Spice can liven up boring dishes and make them more palatable. Working with spices can also give you confidence when cooking. I’m pretty sure most great dishes use some spices to bring out the right flavors. Use spice as your secret weapon again bland, boring food!
Use Almond and Coconut Flour Instead of Regular Flour
You won’t be eating wheat flour while on the Keto diet. But what about pizza? Look around for some recipes that use almond or coconut flour instead. You can still enjoy a lot of the same foods just by substituting some ingredients. I’m not really a fan of feeling deprived and I’m sure you aren’t either. Lucky for you, others have come before and done the hard work of figuring out how to do all this.
Buy Vegetables in Bulk
Buying vegetables in bulk will help you buy more healthy food and cut you grocery bill at the same time! Isn’t that awesome? You can take this a step further by buying seasonally-available produce.
Bring the veggies home. Wash them gently and then chop them up and freeze them. This way you won’t have to worry about anything going bad.

Replace Rice and Pasta With Cauliflower and Veggies
Instead of using rice or pasta, use steamed cauliflower. Cauliflower has very few carbs in it and a neutral taste. Try melting some cheese on it to make cauliflower mac n’ cheese.
If you miss long noodles, why not try a spiralizer? You can buy one here from amazon. Spiralizers are great and save a ton of time.
It can be easy to just think about the Keto diet as away to lose weight without exercising. And it is possible. You will however have a much easier time losing weight if you do start some sort of exercise routine. Some light yoga or going for a walk for 30 minutes everyday can really jump start you metabolism. Exercise isn’t always the most fun thing to do in the world, but it is important. If your goal is to lose weight and feel better about your self, then exercising is really going to help you acheive your goals.
Increase Your Salt Intake
You will need to drink more water while on the Keto diet. It’s just something that happens– you will have to pee more, it’s just how it goes. You might start feeling sluggish and get a headache if you drink a lot of water and don’t also replace your electrolytes. Make sure and get plenty of salt, potassium and magnesium.
First of all, it’s important that you talk to a doctor before trying this.
Intermittent fasting has some great health benefits and it’s a great way to get into ketosis. That’s the metabolic state that you are in while on the Keto diet. Fasting is like hitting the reset button and can help your body process toxins and start making the change over to burning fat. Again, talk to a medical professional before trying anything new with concerns to your diet or exercise.
Ditch the Acidic Foods
Say goodbye to acidic foods and drinks like soda and alcohol. These foods negatively affect your health and acid/alkaline balance which is important on the Keto diet. You don’t have to say goodbye forever, just for a little while. You know, while you get the hang of being on the Keto diet.
Snack on High Fat Foods
Plan on having snacks that are high in fat like nuts and fat bombs to help you get through the day. Fat is your main fuel source on the Keto diet and will help you feel fuller.
