If you’re getting a little tired of eating eggs for breakfast, don’t worry. There are plenty of alternatives for a healthy and satisfying keto breakfast.
Don’t get me wrong, eggs play an important role in keto. They are simple to cook up, cheap, readily available, and used as a binder in lots of keto bread recipes.
Still, that same old plate of scrambled eggs can get kinda boring. Maybe you’re an egg ninja and are serving them over easy. Good for you! Every time I try to flip my eggs over I just end up making scrambled eggs anyway. Luckily there are some great fried and scrambled egg alternatives out there.
A lot of these recipes might be best cooked ahead of time so that you have something easy to grab while you rush through your morning.
Most days it’s a challenge getting everyone something to eat, let alone feeding yourself!
There are a couple of ways to look at a keto breakfast.
- If you like breakfast food, you’re in luck, because you can pretty much eat as much bacon and eggs as you want. But maybe you miss having pancakes and hash browns. You know, the usual breakfast add-ons.
- Or if you don’t care too much about breakfast food, then just go ahead and make some keto dinner ideas and eat those for breakfast.
This post is going to assume that you do love breakfast food and are looking for a replacement for your old favorites.
I have found it really helps sticking to the ketogenic diet when I can still have foods that I’m used to (or at least look, smell and taste a lot like what I’m used to).
Eating “normal” food is going to help you when you have people over for breakfast that don’t eat keto. Or, if not everyone in your family is down with the diet.
For instance, we like to have friends over for waffles on Sunday mornings, but I’m not eating waffles anymore. So I either have to miss out on waffles (which isn’t gonna happen) or I can make some low carb versions that everyone can enjoy.
There are a few egg recipes on here as well, but they are less conventional than plain old scrambled eggs.
So when it comes to breakfast, be glad you’re on the keto diet and not on some low-fat/low-fun diet…and get cooking!
Keto breakfast: If you thought it was all just bacon and eggs you were very, very wrong.
Cinnamon Roll “Oatmeal”
If you miss having oatmeal on a cold morning, then this substitute will help quell your cravings. Ok maybe you don’t crave oatmeal, but if you need to find a replacement for it, try this recipe.
Chia seeds provide the consistency that you’re looking for.
The rest is just nuts and seeds and lots of delicious fats.
Plenty of calories to keep you warm on a cold day!

This is one of those recipes that by looking at the ingredients… I never would have thought you could make anything like waffles with them. Avocado with Bacon and Egg
This is an awesome way to eat eggs —definitely different than however you are doing it now. Plus you get to eat some avocado in the morning. Avocados are a great source of healthy fats and vitamins like E. Your body needs vitamins!
This would be a great way to make a big breakfast for a lot of people. Slice an avocado in half, remove the pit, add the ingredients and toss in the oven. Pretty simple really.
This recipe calls for low fat cheese… but you and I know better than that don’t we! Use full fat cheese on these suckers! You’re on the keto diet, not the low fat cheese sadness diet!

Califlower Hash Browns
I love Hash browns. And it turns out I can still eat them on keto, if I use cauliflower instead of potatoes. Best of all these low carb hash browns are super simple to make and only need three ingredients.
These brown up real nice and of course you can add your favorite seasonings to them…like pepper or garlic powder!

Easy Zuchinni fritters
Another great replacement for potatoes, zucchini fritters look amazing but you can use broccoli or cauliflower if you have those on hand or prefer that taste.
If you’ve never tried fritters before then you are in for a treat! They are basically a savory pancake. Topped with sour cream you’ve got a keto breakfast winner!
These fritters can really be used for much more than just breakfast. They could find their way on to many a lunch and dinner plates. Perfect for beefing up some meals that don’t have the bulk needed to satisfy!

Keto Breakfast “Granola”
Sometimes you just need the crunchy texture of granola to satisfy your urges. This recipe is very easy to make a big batch so you can have a healthy snack for the rest of the week.
Just like normal granola, you mix up the liquids together and then mix them with the dry ingredients. The only difference I can see between normal granola is that this recipe doesn’t use oats or any sugar, other than that it’s the same.

Here’s an unconventional use of egg. It’s the burrito wrapper! This is the kind of savory breakfast I can get behind. Avocado and bacon really elevate this dish! Don’t they always?
Heavy cream really ups the fat content, which is great. I always have a hard time getting enough, and with recipes like this it’s less of a concern.

Pillowy chocolate glazed donuts and they’re keto friendly? I don’t know, this might be my personal favorite keto breakfast on this list!
Almond and coconut flour come together for this masterpiece. You are definitely going to want to grind up your psylum fiber even more than it is, apparently donuts have been deflating because of this!
